Herbert Protocol |

Hi,
GMP are continuing to utilise the Herbert Protocol while encouraging further sign-ups from families and carers of vulnerable people.
The Herbert Protocol is a national scheme introduced by the police in partnership with other agencies to encourage carers to compile useful information which could be used to help locate a vulnerable person if they go missing. This can include people with dementia or learning disabilities.
Since adopting the scheme, we have compiled more than 200 profiles within the community, but is seeking to increase the figure to help safeguard more vulnerable people within Greater Manchester.
GMP - Chief Inspector Mark Mangnall, said: “I would urge care workers, family members, friends, and anyone else who knows a vulnerable person to look into joining the Herbert Protocol, to provide that help when needed. You can find the form online and further information on how it can help you.”
